In 2006, Chateau d'Esclans produced for the first time a few barrels of rose from a vineyard of 80 year old vines. Some have hailed Garrus as the finest rose in the world. Garrus has white peach, candied apple and ripe pear on the nose, with a hint of oak and rose petals. Full and rich on the palate, the wine has an almost Burgundian quality. A serious rose and suits variety of cuisines including red meats.

The makers story

Chateau d'Esclans is a wine producer in Provence, specializing in full-bodied, dry rose wines primarily from the Grenache wine grape variety. The chateau was built in the 12th Century and is located on an elevated site, between Saint-Tropez and Cannes. About 44 hectares (110 ac) here are under vine, with Grenache, Mourvedre, Cinsaut, Rolle and Syrah all represented.
